What is Panchang?
The Panchang is the traditional Hindu calendar and almanac. The word comes from Sanskrit: pancha (five) and anga (limb), referring to its five key elements: Tithi (lunar day), Vara (day of the week), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (sun-moon combination), and Karana (half-tithi).
Hindus consult the Panchang to determine auspicious times for ceremonies, festivals, and daily activities. It combines astronomical observations with traditional Vedic astrology to provide guidance on favorable and unfavorable time periods throughout the day.
The Panchang values shown on this page are calculated based on your location, as sunrise and sunset times affect the determination of tithis, nakshatras, and muhurat periods. Different cities will see slightly different values.
