Privacy Policy

Aaradhana (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Hindu spiritual companion app available on iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Aaradhana mobile app and the aaradhana.app website (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider. We generate a unique user ID (UUID) for your account.

Location Data

With your permission, we collect your precise location to calculate accurate panchang times (sunrise, sunset, muhurat) for your area. Location is requested “When In Use” only. You can skip location access entirely and select a city manually instead.

User Content

You may upload photos and audio recordings as part of your personal ritual guides. These are stored securely in your private storage folder. Ritual guide text (steps, items, notes) is also stored in your account.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the app, including puja completions, practice streaks, saved temples, and saved community guides. This data powers features like your practice tracker and personalized recommendations.

Chat Messages

If you use the AI spiritual guidance feature, your messages are sent to Google Gemini for processing. Chat messages are not stored on our servers. They exist only for the duration of your session.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data we collect is used for app functionality only:

  • Provide accurate, location-based Hindu calendar data
  • Store and display your personal ritual guides
  • Track your practice streaks and puja history
  • Manage your subscription and premium features
  • Identify and fix bugs through crash reports
  • Improve app performance

We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, or profiling. We do not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app. Each receives only the minimum data necessary for its function:

Supabase

Our backend and database provider. All app data (account info, guides, puja tracking) is stored on Supabase's infrastructure. Functions as our first-party backend.

Google Gemini API

Powers the AI spiritual guidance chat. Only your chat text is sent (no personal information). Messages are not stored on our servers. Google's API data usage policies apply.

RevenueCat

Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. Receives your user ID and purchase data from Apple. Does not receive your email, name, or other personal information.

Mixpanel

Product analytics. Tracks anonymous usage events (page views, button clicks) on the website and in the app to help us understand how people use Aaradhana and improve the experience. Respects your browser's Do Not Track setting. No personal information is sent.

Sentry

Error and crash reporting. Receives crash data and your user ID to help us fix bugs. Performance data is collected at a 20% sample rate and is anonymized. No personal information (PII) is sent.

Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In

Authentication providers. We receive your name and email from the provider you choose. We do not access any other data from your Apple or Google account.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

  • Financial or payment information (Apple handles all payments)
  • Health or fitness data
  • Browsing history or search history
  • Contacts or address book
  • Device advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID)
  • Any data used for cross-app tracking or advertising

5. Family Features

If you create or join a family group, other members of your family can see your display name, avatar, and any ritual guides you choose to share. Family sharing is user-initiated and can be revoked at any time.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Settings screen. When you delete your account:

  • All personal data is permanently deleted from our database
  • All uploaded files (photos, audio) are removed from storage
  • Your authentication record is hard-deleted (irreversible)
  • Third-party services (Sentry, RevenueCat) are notified to remove your data

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Supabase Auth, and row-level security policies on all database tables to ensure you can only access your own data.

8. Children's Privacy

Aaradhana is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
