हनुमान जयंती
Marks the birth of Lord Hanuman, the devoted servant of Lord Rama known for extraordinary strength and loyalty. Devotees recite the Hanuman Chalisa, visit temples, and offer sindoor (vermillion).
Why We Celebrate
Hanuman Jayanti celebrates the birth of Lord Hanuman, the mighty devotee of Lord Rama and a symbol of strength, courage, and unwavering devotion. Born to Anjana and Kesari, Hanuman is considered the son of Vayu (the wind god). As a child, he mistook the sun for a ripe fruit and leaped toward it, displaying his divine power. When Indra struck him down, Vayu withdrew all air from the world until Hanuman was revived and blessed with invincibility.
Hanuman played a crucial role in the Ramayana — he found Sita in Lanka, burned Ravana's kingdom, carried the Sanjeevani mountain to save Lakshmana, and remained Rama's most loyal companion. His devotion to Rama is total and selfless. When asked why he always chanted Rama's name, Hanuman tore open his chest to reveal Rama and Sita seated in his heart.
Today, devotees honor Hanuman by reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, visiting temples, and applying sindoor (vermillion) which Hanuman wears as a mark of his devotion to Rama. Hanuman represents the power of devotion to overcome any obstacle — physical, mental, or spiritual.
