Parsva Ekadashi (Parivartini)

September 22, 2026

Fasting day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu turns to his other side in his cosmic sleep. Also called Vamana Ekadashi, celebrating Vishnu's dwarf avatar.

How It's Celebrated

Wake before sunrise and take a bath

2

Observe a complete fast — avoid grains, rice, beans, and lentils

3

If unable to fast completely, eat only fruits, milk, nuts, and sabudana (tapioca)

4

Worship Lord Vishnu with tulsi leaves, flowers, and incense

5

Read or listen to the Vishnu Sahasranama or Bhagavad Gita

6

Spend the day in prayer, meditation, and satsang

7

Break the fast the next morning (Dwadashi) after sunrise at the prescribed time
