Putrada Ekadashi
Fasting day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Observing this Ekadashi in Pausha Shukla Paksha is said to bless couples with worthy offspring and fulfill desires for progeny.
Why We Celebrate
Putrada Ekadashi is specifically observed by couples desiring children. According to the Bhavishya Purana, King Suketuman of Bhadravati, who had no heir, observed this Ekadashi on the advice of sages and was blessed with a son. The name literally means "giver of sons" (putra + da). It is observed with special dedication by those seeking the blessing of progeny.
